Rock the Hood

On November 6, Fort Hood held a concert to commemorate the shootings a year ago. We went to see Chris Cagle and ride the rides. Gavin, Dougie, Adam, Lottie, and Olivia are happy to check everything out.

Excited to ride the carousel (free!)

The kids REALLY wanted to fish (which was NOT free). Since the rides were free, I caved.

Michelle also bought the kids cotton candy. Note for next time - tie back Lottie's hair. At least she enjoyed it!

Fall Soccer

Chris and I decided to coach again this fall, after taking a year-long sabbatical from coaching. We wanted to coach Adam, but had to get special permission to do so. He is still a year too young to play, although he is as tall as the five and six year olds. He had a good time, although it took time to adjust to playing an organized sport. He would get mad when anyone took the ball away from him - he didn't understand that it was the point of the game. He was doing better by the end of the season!

Our little team - smart and scrappy! Even without Chris's help, I really enjoyed the season. Good kids and good parents.

Jack O Lantern

We managed to carve one of our two pumpkins by Halloween. Adam is a traditionalist. Triangles for eyes and nose, and a couple of teeth in the mouth!

Trick or Treat!

Adam insisted on dressing as Woody this year. So naturally, Lottie wanted to be Jessie. We went trick or treating with our friends, Max and Meredith (Peter Pan and Tinkerbell).

We ran into our friends Devlin and Xyler (Buzz and Alien) - a Toy Story reunion!

We took pictures with Mary in the red wagon again this year - they are so much bigger!

Baby Patrick had to get in the picture too.

More Halloween Fun

We attended another Halloween Festival at Comanche Chapel. There were horses to ride, firetrucks to tour, carnival games to play, and treats to eat. Naturally, we rode the horses first.

They also had bounce houses and slides. Exciting, especially when you slide head first.

Halloween Fun

We enjoyed lots of Halloween fun, even before Halloween. Adam had a "fall" party at school. They decorated cookies and watched a movie.

The youth center held a festival as well. Adam got his face painted like a witch, but ended up looking like camouflage. Adam was happy either way.

They had a lot of carnival games. Here are the kids trying to knock down tin cans with balls.
Then it was time for Adam's favorite - eating donuts off of strings. Adam was better about cheating this year - a little.

Lottie cheated blatantly. They had a great time!

Hair Swings

Life with Lottie

A peek into daily life with Lottie. Tormenting the dog.

Learning to clear her plate after lunch - right on top of the clean dishes.

More Pumpkin Patch

While Adam was in school, Lottie and I checked out the pumpkin patch in Harker Heights (just outside Fort Hood) twice - once with MCCW and once with MOPS. It's quite the deal. $2 for songs, storytime, a turn to bounce, a hayride, and painting a pumpkin. We started with the song station.

You could also buy a pumpkin. They had lots of interesting colors and shapes.

Lottie loves to paint!

Bouncing with her friends.

Our second trip - hanging out with her friend Mary.

Snuggling with Baby Patrick.

Last Day

The day that Chris left for Afghanistan, we took Adam out of school and spent some quality family time hiking in Belton.

Sticks are the most fun!

Longhorn ears!
