Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday morning, we took the kids to a Christmas tree farm. They also do a "pumpkin patch." It's not really a pumpkin patch, since they don't grow their own pumpkins, but they did have a lot of activities and pumpkins for sale. It's the best we can get, since we live in the Texas heat. They do actually grow pine trees for Christmas though. Guess we'll be back in December.

Adam and Lottie doing a terrible job of posing with the pumpkins, as usual.

Once we left the pumpkins and got to the giant pile of hay, Lottie was much happier.

Hay is fun to throw.

Hay is also fun for jumping.

Then we went on the "train." It was pulled by a tractor.

They also had a petting zoo - a llama, some goats, and a few sheep. Adam was excited that the llama tickled his hand with his tongue.

Then it was off to ride horses. Adam is now an old pro, but Lottie decided that she also wanted to ride this time. She had just a tiny moment of hesitation at the beginning, but was fine after that. She was "weeing" it up all around the circle.

Day Out With Thomas

Last Saturday, we spent a day out with Thomas the train. Thomas is one of Adam's absolute favorites (pretty much any train will do though), so he was good and excited. Adam was especially happy to have Bryan and Claudia along for the fun. We posed with Murdoch and Emily.

Then we watched the train load up for the trip before ours. The kids were entranced. Except Lottie.

Thomas was pulling the train!

Lottie was ready to go.

Inside the train.

Before we left, Adam and Bryan waited in line to meet Sir Topham Hatt. And they weren't scared a bit. Probably because he's only as tall as Mom. The kids had a great time. Adam is ready to go back, yesterday.

Bryan, Claudia, and Tonyamas love Thomas.

Festival Saturday

Last Saturday (Oct. 10), we went festival crazy! We already had tickets for Day Out with Thomas in Burnet (about an hour away), but Burnet was also having a Farmers' Market and a Nature Fest. Before we headed to ride Thomas, we checked out the Nature Fest. First, we met Smokey Bear. Adam is still getting over his fear of people dressed in furry costumes. He managed to get close enough to take a picture and get a sticker.

Then we checked out the exhibit for a youth hunting group. A group that hunts WITH their youth, not for them! Adam and Lottie got to check out a lot of dead fur, some turkey feathers, and skulls.

They then got to dig for bees and bugs in the sand. Their reward - stickers!

After Day Out with Thomas (post to come), we decided to stop in Lampasas on the way home for their Herb and Art Festival. It was more of an Herb and Crafts Festival, but really nice anyway. Adam got to ride a pony for about fifteen minutes, which Lottie thought was really funny. We tried a German restaurant that was more Southern (American) than authentic German. We still had a great time, and the kids crashed as soon as we got home!

Rainy Day

Today was overcast, then it poured. Adam and Lottie were snuggly inside, once we ran from the carport to the house! They (usually) love playing together, especially if there are no toys involved.

When Adam went down for his nap, Lottie took the baby doll that he'd been dragging around and took another "rest" with it.

Pool

Karen and Shane have installed a shallow salt water pool - the perfect height for the kids to frolic. It was big enough for everyone to splash around, even if it was a little cold (for Houston, anyway). Adam and Lottie also enjoyed Logan's swing set.

More Cousin Pictures

A couple more pictures from last weekend. Bapa and Lottie play before we drive to Dickinson.

Cousins!

We headed out to Dickinson, Texas, to see Kayleigh's baby dedication and finally meet Logan and Kayleigh, Aunty Karen and Uncle Shane's kids.

Adam and Logan became friends.

The kids love the xylophone.

We then tried to get some group pictures. What a nightmare with four kids, poor lighting, and my slower camera (should have brought the Canon!). There were crying, some funny faces, and general NONcooperation. These were the best I could get - sad.

It rained almost the whole weekend, but we got to spend a little time in Karen and Shane's salt water pool and just visit. What a fun time!
