I Love Nani

We are the best of friends.
We like to hang out, especially on days like today, when it is rainy and we are sick.

Sagamihara Park

Many Japanese parks are huge, with giant open areas, playgrounds, zoos, etc. Here are Adam and Calum riding a wooden horse by the petting zoo.
Here's the reason we didn't go into the petting zoo. About fifty different school groups were also at the park. Oh well. Adam probably would have been scared of the guinea pigs...

Zoo

Who knew two little pigs could provoke such a reaction?

Monkeys, however, are cool.

Shoes & Blankets

Adam got to play with two of his favorites today - shoes (Mom's) and blankets. He can actually walk around in those shoes. He pulled out all his blankets today and rolled around in them. So happy!

Swim Class

Here's a picture from swim classes that we took back in August. From left, Amy, Adam, Calum, Maryl, Jesse, and Amy.

Swinging

Swinging in the only baby swing in the entire housing area. It only took us three months to find it!

Outside

Adam enjoys playing on the steps.

Soccer Team

Here's a picture of some of our soccer kids after our 3-1 victory at Ikego. The team was really happy to get a win, and they actually played well together.

Crazy Hair

Crazy hair must run in the family.

Asakusa & Ueno Park

On Lisa's last full day in Japan, we took her on a walking tour of Asakusa, a nice historic area of Tokyo. We started at Kaminarimon Gate.

Nakamise Dori, the shopping street leading up to the temple, was already decorated for fall.

The five story pagoda in the Sensoji Temple area.

Chris and Lisa posing as "traditional" Japanese.

We then went to Ueno Park, and saw some swan and duck boats.

Chris and Adam hang out on the pathway (lined with stone lanterns) to the Toshogu Shrine.

Kamakura

Lisa, Adam, and I went to Kamakura, right on the coast. Our first stop was Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. We were lucky to see a couple getting married while we were there.

Adam enjoys the shrine.

Lisa and I had to try the candied grapes. Adam liked them too.

Lisa and Adam walking toward the Daibutsu (the Big Buddha). It's only the third largest Buddha in Japan, but still pretty impressive.

There was a group of German tourists visiting the shrine. They sang for the newly married couple, twice. I caught the end of the second song.

Sagamihara

We went shopping in Sagamihara (the city where we live). Lisa and Adam tried out the crazy Japanese exercise machines, then Lisa bought a kimono.

Tasty Straps

Mmmm.... straps.

Odawara Castle

Today we went to Odawara Castle. They had a monkey display, an elephant, and some pigeons. Oh, also there was a castle. It was super fun!
